The Federal Government is supporting Germany's international position and the establishment of strategic partnerships with institutions abroad through a campaign for innovation and research in Germany launched in 2006. Communication activities and events to raise awareness of innovation and research in Germany are being conducted worldwide under the umbrella of the "Research in Germany" initiative.
Would you like to work on first-class research projects in an inspirational setting? Subject-specific priority campaigns

The priority campaigns based on the subject areas of the Federal Government's High-Tech Strategy are a special focus. German research institutions and companies have presented their research projects in the field of nanotechnologies and environmental technologies at trade fairs and events between 2008 and 2010, inter alia with the aim of initiating international collaborations. The international competition "Green Talents - The International Forum for High Potentials in Green Technologies 2009" was organized in 2009 as part of the Environment Campaign; in this context, 15 young researchers working in the field of environmental technologies were invited to Germany for a period of one week. A new campaign started in the beginning of 2011 and focuses on clean and energy-efficient production technologies.

Country-specific priority campaigns

The initiative also supports the Federal Government's Internationalization Strategy, which aims to strengthen and develop R&D collaborations between Germany and selected target countries. Regional activities that are to raise awareness of innovation in Germany were carried out as part of a pilot campaign in South Korea in 2006 and 2007. The BMBF has been supporting Indo-German research cooperation in the period 2008 to 2010 with its initiative "India and Germany - Strategic Partners for Innovation".

Consortium for international research marketing

A BMBF-funded consortium was formed together with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (AvH), the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) and the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft (FhG) with the aim of intensifying international research marketing; the consortium will carry out various measures between 2010 and 2013 to increase the international visibility of research in Germany, including German research institutions and research funding programmes.
