Funding within the 7th EU Research Framework Programme

Funding within the area of "Security Research" is based on public calls for proposals, generally published on an annual basis. Funding is allocated on the basis of an independent, competitive evaluation. In terms of contents, these calls are organized into so-called mission areas and cross-cutting activities.

The four relevant mission areas are:

  • Security of citizens
  • Security of infrastructure and utilities
  • Intelligent surveillance and border security
  • Restoring security and safety in case of crisis
 

The three cross-cutting activities are:

  • Integration and interoperability of security systems
  • Security and society
  • Coordination and structuring of security research

 

Within the mission areas and cross-cutting activities, each call for project proposals focuses on certain priorities.
