Automated generation of information and protection of critical infrastructures in the event of a disaster
The project is based on a scenario of massive damage to critical transport infrastructure, in particular tunnels and buildings, by terrorist explosives attacks. The infrastructure can be damaged to a degree that the stability of a building can no longer be guaranteed so that access is not possible without further information on the condition of the building.
Optimizing security processes for access to security-sensitive areas at commercial airports
The goal of the research project is to develop a technology process combination which is to facilitate a faster and more reliable security control of airport staff. In a first step, requirements to be met by the future control system are defined on the basis of an analysis of security processes and technologies.
Development of an integrated, holistic security management concept for airport infrastructures
A theoretical concept is developed at a meta-plan level which defines the basis and framework condi-
tions of the security management concept to be developed. The "onion skin principle" is considered to be a suitable concept approach which enables the most efficient countermeasures to different threat scenarios in different critical areas.
Cross-organizational hazard prevention to protect human life and critical infrastructures by optimized prevention and reaction
The main goal of this project is an evaluation of the present and expected contamination of underground systems with hazardous substances by means of substance analysis, calculation of the spread of such substances, and the targeted dissemination of consolidated, context-sensitive information to all organizations involved.
Protection of critical bridges and tunnels as part of roads
The aim of the research project is, first, to identify possible threat scenarios which might have a direct impact on bridges and tunnels as well as their users. All conceivable natural and man-made hazards are taken into account ("all hazards approach").
Security in open transport systems and railway management
The aim of the project is to actively support the various security forces by means of an intelligent security management system which takes various sources of data such as video recordings into account and simulates the scenarios recorded to produce an incident-based control system using system references.
Modelling and simulation of threat scenarios and security systems in an expert system for risk management
In this research project transport infrastructures, current and future threats, and security systems will be modelled and simulated with mathematical and system-oriented means in a multidisciplinary approach. The aim is to categorize, objectify and specify risks by means of cost-benefit analyses.
Networking of local passenger transport companies, relief personnel, organizers and passengers for greater security in public transport at mass events
The research project aims at optimal organization and improved networking of all participants as well as the creation of optimal work conditions with faster response times. The interaction of different technologies for the simulation of events and for the recognition and evaluation of hazardous situations is studied.
Improving the security of passengers on ferries
The focus is on security during access to the ships as well as on the shipboard and seaward measures. The emphasis is on the use and expansion of surveil-
lance measures and detection systems as well as on optimized handling processes, while new technologies are taken into account.
Sensitisation, assessment and action training on security measures in public transport companies as an illustration of critical infrastructures
The project creates a training solution by developing three-dimensional, interactive simulations that integrate basic security learning contents and enable the employees to experience these contents interactively. On the basis of a 3D, interactive training software, specific skills are built up, such as taking decisions and acting under one0s owns initiative.
