Supporting the Scientists of Tomorrow: Pupils and Students Discover Electronics

Through diverse programmes and projects, the BMBF is placing emphasis on the support of young students in the field of electronics. The goal is to arouse young people's interest in the field and encourage students to become involved in research. The BMBF supports the competition INVENT a CHIP for students in grades 8 to 13, the university student programme for electric mobility DRIVE-E, and the school competition SolarMobil Deutschland.

Invent a Chip: The search for young inventors

The great demand for highly qualified engineers is common knowledge. The school student competition INVENT a CHIP aims to create understanding of and excitement for basic technical research, particularly in the field of microelectronics and information technology. The winning teams presented their projects - chips they had developed and tested - at the VDE Congress "Smart Grid" in Stuttgart in November 2012.
