"We need bold new ideas and a whole lot of creativity to build electric vehicles. We are counting on the students of today who will be the engineers of tomorrow." Speaking in Berlin in 2009, this is how Federal Minister of Research Annette Schavan introduced DRIVE-E, the first comprehensive programme that fosters young research talent in the field of electric mobility. The programme is sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the Fraunhofer Society and aims to motivate students of technical subjects at universities and universities of applied sciences to pursue a career in the field of electric mobility. It consists of two modules: the DRIVE-E Academy and the DRIVE-E prize.
