Innovation Commissioner for Green Hydrogen

Till Mansmann has served as Innovation Commissioner for Green Hydrogen at the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) since 10 August 2022. The position was created as part of the National Hydrogen Strategy of 2020. The Innovation Commissioner is a permanent guest on the State Secretaries’ Committee for Hydrogen and on the National Hydrogen Council. He is responsible for directing the focus of the BMBF's relevant research, development and transfer activities. He cooperates with key stakeholders in politics, industry and science and contributes new ideas to public discourse.

Since 2017, Mansmann has also been a member of the German Bundestag. There he is a full member of the Finance Committee and of the Committee for Economic Cooperation and Development. He is also the FDP parliamentary spokesperson for development policy.

Having studied Physics with Philosophy at Heidelberg and Frankfurt am Main, Mansmann worked as a journalist after graduating. In 1999, Mansmann won the Multimedia Competition for Business Start-ups of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and founded a software services company. He went back to journalism in 2004 and specialised in topics related to the German tax system. Before becoming a member of the Bundestag, he worked as an editor at a medium-sized specialist publisher.

Mansmann was born in Mannheim-Neckarau on 8 January 1968. He is married, has a daughter and lives with his family in the town of Heppenheim an der Bergstraße.
