Since December 2013, Stefan Müller has been Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister of Education and Research. In this function, he supports the Minister in fulfilling her governmental duties, in particular in the parliamentary sphere.
Stefan Müller has been a Member of the German Bundestag since September 2002. He was a member of the local council of Großenseebach from 1996 to 2006. Since 2002 he has served as councillor of the district of Erlangen-Höchstadt.

Stefan Müller has been a member of the CSU since 1990 and worked in various positions in the party. He was Chairman of the party’s youth organization Junge Union Bayern from 2007 to 2011. He acted as spokesman for education and research policy of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group in the Bundestag from March 2009 to October 2009. He thereafter assumed the post of Secretary of the group of CSU parliamentarians in the Bundestag.

From 1996 to 2002 Stefan Müller occupied various posts at the Dresdner Bank and the Raiffeisenbank Seebachgrund. He completed his in-service studies at the Bankakademie (Frankfurt School of Finance & Management) with a qualification as bank officer. Prior to that, he completed training as a bank clerk at the Dresdner Bank in Erlangen. He gained his Realschule certificate in 1992.

Stefan Müller was born on 3 September 1975 in Neustadt an der Aisch. He is married and has one daughter.
